
CVS appoints Paul Higgs to Chief Veterinary Officer Role

CVS Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Paul Higgs to the role of Chief Veterinary Officer.
In his new position, Paul will oversee all clinical quality improvement work in farm, equine and small animal, first opinion and referral divisions to provide the best level of care to animals. He will also act as the clinical lead on responses to national and individual patient issues.
Paul will look after all CVS research awards to universities and internal beneficiaries, to further veterinary science and standards of clinical practice. In addition, he will take on an external relations role, including liaising with the wider profession, including the RCVS, and supporting them in their work.
Paul is an RCVS recognised and EBVS® European Veterinary Specialist in Small Animal Internal Medicine. He became a diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 2014. Prior to his current role, Paul was Clinical Director at CVS’s Highcroft Referrals Hospital in Bristol, where he still practices. He is also currently Chair of the Congress Programme Committee at the British Small Animal Veterinary Association.
Paul will replace CVS Group’s outgoing Chief Veterinary Officer Professor John Innes, who had been with the company eight years.
