3rd Sep, 2025

CVS Australia has made its largest acquisition with the arrival of Sydney Animal Hospitals, one of the most recognised veterinary businesses in Australia.

Dr Sam Haynes

The newly acquired practices are located in the city’s Newtown, Inner West, Norwest, Kellyville, Newport, and Avalon districts. Approximately 180 clinical and non-clinical colleagues from across Sydney Animal Hospital’s sites will join the CVS family.

It is the largest collection of practices to join CVS Group since the company entered Australia in 2023. This increases CVS Australia's presence to 18 clinics in New South Wales and 51 clinics across Australia. With over 900 colleagues across all six states, CVS Australia is now the one of the largest veterinary employers in the country.

The joint venture partnership reflects CVS Australia’s commitment to investing in high quality practices. Sydney Animal Hospitals offer state-of-the-art technology and services, including surgical, dental, and emergency care. Their advanced diagnostic equipment includes in-house laboratory, radiography, and ultrasound.

Dr Sam Haynes, veterinarian and winner of the 2024 Sydney Hobart, founded Sydney Animal Hospitals in 1990 and continues as Joint Venture Partner with CVS Australia.

To support its growing number of practices, CVS Australia has expanded its operational support team, with a team of Regional Directors now providing dedicated support to each practice in each state. Central HR, finance, and payroll teams also manage back-office processes, so that practice colleagues can focus on delivering the best possible care to animals.

In addition, CVS Australia colleagues have access to the group’s industry-leading online learning platform to support their professional development, and a comprehensive benefits package which prioritises colleague wellbeing. Clinical guidance is also available on-demand via its MiGuide app and from Vet Oracle, the group’s telemedicine service led by veterinary specialists and referral clinicians.
