CVS’ Pembrokeshire Farm Vets has officially opened a brand-new, purpose-built veterinary practice on the Pembrokeshire County Showground in Haverfordwest - a significant investment that strengthens livestock veterinary provision across the region.
The new 2,000-square-foot farm-only facility represents an investment of £236,000, replacing the practice’s former portacabin on the site. Designed specifically for farm work, the building contains advanced clinical spaces and diagnostic technology, supporting the delivery of 24/7 emergency care to farmers throughout Pembrokeshire.
A full suite of services will be delivered from the new building, including dairy routine visits, herd and flock health planning, bull fertility testing, pregnancy diagnosis, mastitis investigation, lambing support, youngstock management, nutritional advice, goat and smallholder services, TB testing and export certification for meat and live shellfish. The practice also offers several farmer-focused clubs and packages, such as the Flock Health Club, Smallholder Club, Spring Fertility Package and Growing Calf Package.
The purpose-fitted site features a dedicated laboratory equipped with specialist diagnostic machinery including an “Ovacyte” faecal worm and fluke egg counting system, Mastatest machine to run milk samples, and in‑house blood testing equipment. An on-site RAMA (SQP) is available to offer immediate expert advice, helping farmers select the right treatments - with faecal egg count results available within 15 minutes. A newly built lambing room includes a hydraulic lambing table, holding pens and a roller shutter door, providing improved facilities for emergency and routine lambing work.
The practice also houses a comprehensive medicines store, stocking vaccines, VPS wormers, fly repellents, the full Selekt oral fluid therapy range, marker sprays and other day-to-day farm essentials. Products are competitively priced and the practice offers price matching. The practice also operates an online shop with national delivery options.
The new facility will be home to a seven-strong, fully dedicated farm team comprising four experienced vets - Alex, Alice, Rose and Ruben - supported by colleagues Mark (responsible for medicines and deals) and reception team Emma and Melanie.
Pembrokeshire Farm Vets currently serves nearly 200 farm clients across the county and neighbouring areas and is actively welcoming new clients, from dairy to sheep flocks. While the practice primarily serves Pembrokeshire, the team is happy to discuss supporting farmers further afield depending on their needs.
Since launching in April 2023, Pembrokeshire Farm Vets has become a trusted partner to livestock keepers across South Wales. The opening of this new purpose-built facility marks an important step in expanding the practice’s services and reinforcing its commitment to the long-term success and sustainability of the local farming industry.
The Pembrokeshire Farm Vets practice is located at Unit 15, The County Showground, Withybush Rd, Haverfordwest SA62 4BW. The opening times for both sites will be Monday to Friday 8am-5pm. To find out more about Pembrokeshire Farm Vets, visit Pembrokeshire Farm Vets.
