John Innes BVSc PhD CdrtVR DSAS(orth) FRCVS is CVS’s Chief Veterinary Officer and Referrals Director, a role which involves overseeing clinical veterinary policy, quality improvement and professional standards, as well as leading company’s nine specialist referral centres.
John is a RCVS-registered specialist in small animal orthopaedics and is the current chair of the RCVS Fellowship, the learned society of the UK veterinary profession. He was formerly professor of veterinary surgery at University of Liverpool where he developed the small animal specialist services and led research in canine arthritis. He has published over 90 peer-reviewed papers and authored several book chapters.
John previously chaired the BSAVA Scientific Committee and has acted for RCVS in veterinary school accreditation. He continues to perform orthopaedic surgery at ChesterGates Veterinary Specialists.
